Online Kayak Coaching Sessions

Wednesday May 6, 2020 - Whitewater of the Sea Webinar

Join me for a fun overview and question and answer session about whitewater kayaking in the ocean aka rock gardening.
Whitewater ocean kayaking is also called rock gardening and is a form of extreme sea kayaking done in whitewater kayaks. The Mendocino Coast of California has some of the best rock gardens and ocean kayaking in the world.

The California Women's Watersports Collective is hosting this webinar as part of their online coaching series.  Definitely check out the other sessions being offered as well.  This is a great opportunity to learn from top women kayak instructors.  Sessions are open to all genders and are available for all skill levels.  The topics whitewater techniques, sea kayaking, yoga, expedition planning, managing fear, and more. I am honored to be included in this line-up and sharing my passion and knowledge of whitewater kayaking on the sea on May 6.

On June 6, you can join me for The Surfzone - a kayak surf skill building session.   This session will have skills applicable to a variety of kayaks - sea kayaks, whitewater kayaks, surf kayaks, and fishing kayaks.

New Liquid Fusion Kayaking Video

Last week, we premiered a new video for Liquid Fusion Kayaking.  The goal was a short and sweet 1 minute video was a taste or teaser of the magic that we share in our Mendocino kayaking classes and tours.  The challenge of making this video was to blend the dry and mild of our Noyo Meander Tours with the wet and wild of our whitewater, Whitewater of the Sea and sea kayak rock gardening adventures.

Check out the video and let us know what you think.  You can watch it below but it is best viewed on YouTube or on Facebook.  This week, we will post a version of it on Instagram.

Comment on it and share it!  My next video project is a trailer/teaser for our 3 hour Whitewater of the Sea Adventures.  If you want to try rock gardening or have friends who you want to get hooked on playing the sea, it is a must do!

I also have a few other projects in the works, but you will have to check back to see more on them.

Tip - Re-take a Class

Jeff and I observe that paddlers who take a class learn a few skills on the subject.  Paddlers who re-take a class are better on their way to mastering the subject.

Think about a class that you took where some of the skill or skill concepts were new or tricky - like CLAP, swooshing, eddy turns, bunny hopping, water reading, or timing.  Imagine taking the class now with a better concept of the skill.  The second time around, you have a basic understanding of the skill and are now ready to refine and master the skill.

Re-taking a class is also helpful if you are going to be teaching or leading others.

As you are making your paddling plans for the new year, consider re-taking a class -  especially if it is a fun one :)
